James Wilson, 56, from Chingford, Essex, accumulated five speeding tickets in eight days then attempted to shift blame onto an employee he made up to dodge the penalty. He claimed that he sacked the employee following the offences.
However, his fictitious tale was exposed when he was unable to provide any proof of employment or invoices. PC Daniel Cordwell, of Essex Police’s casualty reduction section, said: “Wilson produced details of a supposed employee for the five speeding offences, claiming he sacked him after numerous traffic offences.
“We conducted extensive enquiries with partner organisations and was able to prove this man was not employed by Wilson, who in turn was unable to provide any proof of employment or invoices of works completed by him.
