Overview: Our client requires a full time Club Steward to run their centre in Luton, Bedfordshire

Person Requirements

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, motivated and able to work under pressure. The candidate must hold or be prepared to obtain a personal license. The successful person must have at least nine months experience in a management position in the licensing trade.

Experience in the following is essential

Cash handling and banking with Competence in using Excel
Staff management
Cellar management and Stock control
Overseeing deliveries and Managing suppliers
Promoting of events and Dealing with prospective clients
Hours of Work

Due to the nature of the business, their busy season runs from October until April each year. During these times you would be required to open the premises late afternoon and working until closing time. In addition, you will be dealing with other functions as and when required. During the summer months hours of business are very much reduced, therefore your hours will be annualised.

The finer points will be explained during the interview process. There will also be outside functions to cater for.

Job description

Hours of work will be an average of 40 hours per week according to the needs of the business. These will be averaged annually as the business has peaks and troughs in busy/quiet periods so you will need to show flexibility. Statutory holiday and contributory pension scheme come as standard but you will be expected to take your main holidays during July and August according to the needs of the business

Main duties

Responsibility for service to club members and external customers by yourself and your team
To maintain smooth operation of the bars and function rooms at the venue and make sure that customers are served promptly
To create and maintain a friendly, outgoing team to serve our members and customers
To do regular stock checks and keep the bar properly stocked including maintaining the condition of wine and beer and to complete line cleaning as required
To deal with customer complaints in a professional and prompt manner
To maintain proper and accurate records of goods inwards
To cash up till daily and record details on the office PC. Banking to be completed and paid into the bank by Tuesday of the following week
To observe the licensing laws and health & safety regulations appertaining to the venue
To work with the centre manager and the caterer to ensure the smooth running of the centre
To take bookings for outside functions and show prospective clients around the facilities
To be sure that the bar area is clean at all times
To be sure that the premises are properly locked and secured (including the car park gates) with the alarm set whenever the premises are un occupied.
Organisation and control of staff and to maintain a dress code of dark trousers (not Jeans) black shoes white collared shirt and tie
Setting up of tables and chairs for functions and breaking down afterwards
Maintaining satisfactory temperatures in all meeting rooms by use of the heating a/c system
Be trained in first aid or willing to undertake training before appointment
Complete a monthly time sheet and to make sure that all staff complete a monthly time sheet
Make sure stock is rotated correctly and to maintain security of cash and stock
Recruiting training and motivating staff
