Overview: Great Opportunity to work for this innovative and forward thinking business.  This is very much a hands on role and you will be supporting the activity of their prototype workshop.


Your aim will be working with their Workshop manager & design teams to develop and build prototypes from, wood, metal and plastics.  The role will be something that will develop you into becoming their UK QC inspector.  Working with a cross functional team to carry out QC inspection’s for orders placed with UK suppliers.

Main Duties
Building prototypes to both technical drawings and hand sketches using tools and methods suitable.
Development of prototypes with the Technical Design team, feeding back the changes and improvements you recommend from a functional and manufacturing point of view.
Working with the Project Managers to ensure prototypes are built on time.
Working with Buyers to ensure prototypes are produced to budget.
General business and workshop support, collecting and delivery packages, etc.
Operation of key plastic machinery; CNC routing machine, plastic laser cutter, & hand tools to assist with the prototype build.
Modification of metal prototypes using relevant hand tools.
Electrical wiring, LED and Tube lighting for units requiring wiring.
Manufacturing and assembly of short run production units and where required using additional staff to support.
Ability to work flexible hours when necessary, travel to clients premises to build and were required present prototypes, this could be in the UK or occasionally overseas.
General stock management using an electronic stock management system.
Supporting the UK QC team through visits to factories within to ensure products are being manufactured to the correct standards.
Produce electronic QC reports in Microsoft word for every factory visit, manage any issues on site.
Work with Chinese QC inspectors / Managers to ensure a similar way of working is adopted in the UK.

Experience and Qualifications
Over 18 years old.
No key experience required, it’s about having the right positive, can do attitude and willingness to learn.
Hands on / practical person with positive approach to problem solving / lateral thinking and good attention to detail.
Self-motivated—does not need constant supervision to stay productive
A good communicator, able to get ideas across and manage expectations in an non-confrontational manner
User of Microsoft packages including; Word & Excel
Good time management / reliability is essential.
Full UK driving licence & passport.

• College Diploma in an Engineering discipline or similar.
• A-C’s at GCSE’s ideally in Maths, English & Science
